Fire In A Multi Storeyed Building At Salt Lake, Property Worth Rs. – 10 Lakhs Damaged
Salt Lake, Sector 3, Kolkata, 7th June 2021: A devastating fire that broke out in a multi-storeyed residential building yesterday at around 2 p.m. damaged properties worth Rs. – 10 lakhs. This incident happened yesterday in a residential complex of Salt Lake, Sector 3. According to the primary report, the source of the fire was possibly some defaulted cables on the third floor. The flame of the fire spread so swiftly that the entire 3rd floor containing 6 residential families’ apartments were entirely gutted out. Most of the valuable furniture and other assets were burnt into ashes. The local people were terrified noticing the coils of smoke emitting out of the windows. To extinguish the fire 6 fire brigades were pressed into action. They brought the fire under control after two hours of effort. All the residents of the 3rd floor were rescued and brought back to a safer place by breaking the windows and with the help of hydraulic ladders. But there was no report of injury or death. At this incident, terror loomed large around the complex. The residents of the other floor were vacated. The Mayor of Kolkata termed the incident, ‘Shocking’. He ordered a probe to find out the cause of the fire. The complex has already been banned.
