Sodpur, Howrah, 15th August 2021: To show a special dignity to the ‘kanyashree Prakalpa’ of the government of West Bengal, our Sodpur Girls’ High School observed ‘Kanyashree Day’ on 14th August 2021. On that day the programme was started at 10:00 a.m. and continued until 1 p.m. The students of class 8 to 12 participated in it including all the teachers and H.M of the school. The programme was started with the opening speech of the H.M. The chief guest of the programme was the local B.D.O. He also gave his valuable speech about this project. He said that’ Kanyashree’, an appreciable project of the West Bengal government to improve the life and education of the girls. The main motto of this project is to financially help the backward families so that they send their daughters to school and don’t get them married before 18 years. Under this scheme, unmarried girls aged between 13 and 18 years who are enrolled in government recognised schools get an amount of Rs – 1,000 per year through their bank account. Even they also get a one-time grant of Rs – 25000 when they reach 18. He also included that the United Nation honoured Kanyashree with the highest Public Service award in 2017. After the speech, an amusing drama about the benefits of the project ‘Kayashree’ was staged by the students of our school. Then a rally was taken out in the local area to inform the local parents about the project ‘Kanyashree’. The programme was over with the closing speech and vote of thanks to the students by the H.M of our school. Then refreshments were distributed among all. Active participation and cooperation made the programme a grand success.
